We are less than a month away from this year’s Emmy awards. And no year has seen a more impressive nomination than 2022. Every category is full of brilliant performers who turned in one of their respective careers’ best works of art. However, all eyes, including ours, will be on one man and one man only, Andrew Garfield.

After not winning an Academy Award for his incredible performance in Netflix’s tick, tick…BOOM! Fans of Andrew will surely want the actor to succeed in the Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie category. But does The Amazing Spider-Man actor stand a chance to win this year? Let us take a look.

Can Andrew Garfield create history at the Emmy this year?

Following an Oscar nomination for his role as Jonathan Larson in tick, tick… boom! Andrew Garfield receives his first Emmy nod for his performance as Mormon investigator Jeb Pyre in the FX mystery series Under the Banner of Heaven. In the series, Andrew plays the role of a detective who is in the middle of an investigation of a murder in the Salt Lake Valley.

The series is beautifully crafted, with powerful themes of religion running in the subplot. And Andrew is exceptional in the series. As a result, we wouldn’t be surprised if Andrew manages to bag an Emmy for his portrayal of Jeb Pyre. However, winning the award won’t be as easy as fans would want it to be. Veteran actors Colin firth, Oscar Isaac, Michael Keaton, Himesh Patel, and Sebastian Stan are also running with Garfield in the category.

Apart from that Garfield also has a huge disadvantage as he is the only nomination from his series. And few champions have won this category if they are the only candidate for their series. In 2020, Mark Ruffalo (I Know This Much Is True) was the final. But one thing is in favor of Andrew, the Academy’s recent tendency to honor performances by actors who are younger than the usual nominee, such as Riz Ahmed, Darren Criss, and Jharrel Jerome. So if Andrew wins, he will indeed create history.

We all will have to wait and see if Andrew wins the awards or not. But one thing is for sure Andrew’s fans will surely want the actor to win something after his Oscar snub earlier this year.
