We finally have a Kung Fu Panda 4 film in the world. Dreamworks, the studio behind the original trilogy, recently announced that Po with his furious friends should be returning to the big screens once again. However, this is not the only comeback that Po made. The initial return of Jack Black as Po was in Netflix’s Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight almost a month ago.

So it makes us wonder, after remaining dormant for years, could the Netflix Original series have helped the franchise receive the fourth installment it needed? Let us try to find out an answer.

Did Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight act as a catalyst for the new fourth film?

The Kung Fu Panda world has a long history on television. Previously, Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness and Kung Fu Panda: The Paws of Destiny let spectators enjoy more Po the Panda shenanigans from the comfort of their own homes. However, the most recent installment of this franchise, Netflix’s Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight, breaks new ground by being the first of these shows to have Jack Black repeating his role as Po.  

As a result, fans were instantly interested in streaming the new show, so they did. The show was praised for its voice acting and background score. However, it lacked the real pizazz the movies had. The show had a decent run on the streamer, and could not even make it to the top 10 trending list. However, even after not a great run on the streaming service Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight helped rekindle the fire that the Kung Fu Panda movies created. And also played a major role.

It expanded the universe

Despite not doing too well among the critics. The show played an important role in the universe of the show holistically. In the show, it was for the first time since the third film that we saw Po and with a new title. As the new film is still in its infancy, it is not sure whether it will take place before or after the Netflix Original series. But one thing is for sure the show will surely be talked about at some level in the film.
