When will Netflix drop Frankenstein?

Netflix originals usually arrive on the platform at 12:00 AM Pacific Time on the day of release. Frankenstein, helmed by Guillermo del Toro, is set to hit Netflix on November 7, 2025. That means for many viewers, the clock strikes midnight on the US West Coast when the Gothic title drops. Globally, international subscribers can also expect the movie to drop at local times that align with Netflix's midnight PT rollout.

Frankenstein initially opened theatrically in selected cinemas from October 17, 2025. On August 30, 2025, the Oscar-winning director's film had its world premiere at the 82nd Venice International Film Festival. Retelling Mary Shelley's centuries-old classic with a twist, the movie, written by Guillermo del Toro, is an open-minded proposal from del Toro that adds grand production to the gothic horror period drama, but leaves viewers with thought-provoking questions.

Alongside the aesthetically stunning set designs and lavish production, Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein stars Oscar Isaac as Victor Frankenstein and Jacob Elordi as the Creature, who had the internet swoon with just a glimpse. Meanwhile, Mia Goth plays Lady Elizabeth Harlander, as well as Baroness Claire Frankenstein, Victor Frankenstein's late mother. Lars Mikkelsen plays Captain Anderson, Christoph Waltz stars as Henrich Harlander, and Charles Dance plays Baron Leopold Frankenstein, Victor Frankenstein's oppressive father and a renowned physician. This timely epic revives Mary Shelley's creation, but with the added monster wonder, del Toro's signature style.

At its core, the film is all about Victor Frankenstein, the brilliant and obsessive scientist who turns an uncanny Creature into a living being, only to be confronted by the moral and emotional monsters that his own ambition has spawned. In keeping with the theme, Del Toro has also rejected generative AI and opted for makeup, prosthetics, and human design instead for the film. Ultimately, he brings in his own voice through the themes of suffering, empathy, and the consequences of unchecked desire.
