Stranger Things' core crew has battled the bizarre several times and done it all by themselves. Once upon a time, however, Dustin Henderson's radio waves had once beamed into the spotlight a different kind of savior. But as Season 5's chaos has continued unfolding, the audience has been straining its ears to catch a stray note of certainty from a bespectacled girl from Utah.

Perhaps not a plot twist or even armour, but Suzie Bingham's coy crooning has saved Hawkins and its beloveds enough times to be a shield for sure. 

Gabriella Pizzolo, who plays Suzie, had undoubtedly lit up the Stranger Things premiere red carpet recently. Yet, four episodes in to the new season, neither has Suzie appeared, nor has Dustin mentioned their Utah-Hawkins hotline.

From having Planck's Constant crack Season 3's code during the Starcourt Mall battle; to locating Eleven during the Hawkins Lab crisis in Season 4, it is no hoax that Suzie is no stranger to playing soldier when it comes to a horrific crisis. But with Duffer Brothers having vowed to a tidy finale with solely existing main and side characters taking up the space, there seems to be a 50-50 chance of Suzie's comeback so far.

Suzie debuted as Dustin's camp crush. Since then, she has been branded as the brainy 'Never-Ending Story' shredding girl from Utah. Her and Dustin's spark had bridged miles, blending teen romance with portal-panic all through their long-distance romance. 

Post-Stranger Things' Season 4, her dad's computer ban and Dustin's newly developed agnostic despair has hinted at static. Although most adored this wholesome anchor amid Hawkins' horrors, radio silence has been lingering like a dropped signal.​

Dustin dominates early Season 5 screens, but notably without Suzie. Eddie's death still seems to haunt him as if under a Vecna curse. Hellfire shirt-clad, he has been visiting graves, scrapping with jocks like Andy, trying to channel survivors, and perhaps Erica Sinclair changing's-guilt into fury. Preoccupied with mourning and Hawkins' lockdown, Dustin's headspace looks too tangled for love. 

For some, Dustin's cold edge has been a mirror to Max's void, while some have bet on Suzie's returns post-quarantine. Some others have been mourning the split, citing her Season 4 aid as a fond farewell to Stranger Things. While Suzie may seem to have lurked off-mic, her mark on Hawkins, clever and constant, has endured so far, and perhaps even beyond. ​
