After a spring break full of action thrillers, Netflix has pulled up its sleeves to instill laughter amidst the blood-curdling seriousness. To get started with it, Netflix has roped in Tyler Perry’s She the People to ensure the comedic streak hits right in the bones. The Netflix comedy series comes on the heels of Tyler Perry’s Beauty in Black Part 1, reaching #1 on the Global Top 10 TV List following its October debut last year.

For those wondering what Perry has in store with She the People, here is all you need to know about the Netflix arrival. 

According to Tudum, Netflix’s forthcoming She the People series has a force of star power. She the People stars Terri J. Vaughn as Antoneitte Dunkerson, Jade Novah as Shamika, Jo Marie Payton as Cleo, Dyon Brooks as Basil, Drew Olivia Tillman as Lola Dunkerson, Tre Boyd as Titus Dunkerson, Karon Riley as Michael, and Robert Craighead as Governor Irwin Harper. 

Apart from the main cast, She the People’s creative camp includes Tyler Perry as the writer, director, and producer. Niya Palmer is a co-creator. Palmer, Keisha, Lance Bottoms, and Vaughn serve as executive producers. Bottoms is the former Atlanta mayor and adviser to President Biden, who brings her political expertise to the series. Angi Bones and Tony L. Strickland are producing for Tyler Perry Studios.

Netflix already teased a pentagon of Tyler Perry projects coming up on the OTT platform earlier this year. So, what is the story of She the People?

According to Tudum, She the People revolves around politician Antoinette Dunkerson, who fans get to meet during her campaign for Lieutenant Governor. After she wins the election, she is put in a tough spot as she must navigate a misogynistic and condescending governor, while trying to keep her family in line, who are now all under the public eye. 

In Perry’s first Netflix comedy, Vaughn stars as the politician who wins her election only to realize she signed up for more than meets the eye. She the People season 1 has two parts. Part 1 concludes with Antoinette reclaiming her agency and finally standing up to Governor Harper. But what happens next will be dealt with in She the People Part 2.

That said, when will She the People be released on Netflix?

According to Tudum, Tyler Perry’s She the People has 16 episodes, slated to premiere in two parts. Part 1 was released on May 22, 2025, and is currently streaming on Netflix. She the People season 1 Part 2 is scheduled to drop on August 14, 2025. She the People is reportedly Perry’s second series under his multi-year first-look creative partnership with Netflix. 

The deal allows Perry to write, produce, and direct films and series. The Six Triple Eight, Perry’s latest film, was the most viewed title on Netflix for the first four weeks of streaming. And now? All eyes are on She the People.
