'Peaky Blinders' Spinoff Series Announced, Cillian Murphy Is Returning but With a Twist
Tommy Shelby's legacy lives on through every fan who cannot simply move on from the addictive grasp Peaky Blinders has had on the world. And now with the announcement of its new spinoff series, the primary question that lingers is whether Cillian Murphy will reprise his role once again. As original creator Steven Knight expands the Shelby saga with two 6-episode seasons, Murphy is set to assume a new role, i.e., of a producer for the show.
In the series set in 1953 Birmingham, the Shelby family is at the center of a brutal struggle for control over the city's reconstruction after WWII, facing unprecedented opportunities and dangers. Murphy is also producing the highly anticipated Peaky Blinders movie and also takes on the iconic role of Thomas Shelby, bringing the complex character to life once again. However, for the spinoff series set in post-war Britain, he is not confirmed to be reprising his character.

The series produced by Cillian Murphy is reportedly set to pick up after the events of the film adaptation of Peaky Blinders, titled The Immortal Man. Alongside Murphy, Karen Wilson, Martin Haines, Jamie Glazebrook, and Jo McClellan have also joined in as executive producers. The press release for the show describes it as the story of “a new generation of Shelbys,” suggesting that the focus will be on new characters and fresh storylines, though the cast has not been revealed yet. Meanwhile, Murphy's slate remains as booked and busy as that of the Peaky Blinders universe.
While everyone awaits the return of Tommy Shelby, Murphy promises to bring more than just one flavor to his on-screen appearances.
