Following an all-consuming spring break on the trend train of streamers, the streaming giant has pulled up its socks with a second season renewal for the lighthearted Arctic comedy, North of North.

After the critical acclaim and positive reviews that followed North of North season 1, this streaming retreat is just the delicious delight fans were waiting for. And for those curious about season 2, here is everything you need to know as of now.

According to a recent Tudum report, Netflix’s beloved comedy series, North of North, has been officially renewed for a second season. The show, which earned a rare 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes with its first season, is Stacey Aglok MacDonald and Alethea Arnaquq-Baril’s Canadian sitcom, which premiered on CBC, APTN, and Netflix in January 2025. Series star Anna Lambe and the streaming giant recently shared her reaction video to the news on Instagram.

“I’m so excited and overwhelmed with joy, I can’t wait to head back to Ice Cove!” Lambe said, speaking of the second season greenlight. For those unaware, North of North follows the journey of a young Inuk woman, portrayed by Lambe, in the Arctic community of Ice Cove, Nunavut. After a public departure from her marriage, she forges a new path as she confronts the scrutiny of her community in her quest to redefine herself.

North of North season 1 premiered on Netflix on January 7, 2025. Although Netflix has witnessed the peaks of success with quite a few releases this year, the Arctic comedy remains a class apart. The first season starred Anna Lambe, Maika Harper, Jay Ryan, Braeden Clarke, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Zorga Qaunaq, Bailey Poching, Nutaaq Doreen Simmonds, Keira Belle Cooper, Kelly William, and Tanya Taqaq.

The first season saw many local and community members serving as background actors. Stacey Aglok MacDonald and Alethea Arnaquq-Baril of Red Barrow Media have created the show and serve as executive producers alongside Miranda de Pencier of Northwood Entertainment, Anya Adams, Susan Coyne, and Garry Campbell. While the series is charged with authenticity, only time will reveal what North of North season 2 has in store for subscribers.
