Now, the streaming giant is set to take this adrenaline-fueled saga to new territories. Expanding its international footprint, a Korean spin-off titled Extraction: Taigo is said to be in the works.

Netflix not nearly done with the Extraction IP

Netflix is taking its Extraction franchise international with a Korean spin-off titled Extraction: Taigo, reportedly starring Squid Game’s Lee Jin Wook and Train to Busan’s Ma Dong Seok. Filming for the project is expected to begin this month. The film will be directed by Lee Sang Yong of The Outlaws 2 and written by Cha Woo Jin, with production handled by Big Punch Pictures, B&C, and Nova Film, according to What's On Netflix.

The success of Extraction and Extraction 2 has hands down set the stage for this branching out. Chris Hemsworth, alternatively, is set to return for the third installment in the original saga. With hundreds of millions of streams per film, the franchise’s global popularity is certainly what made the What's on Netflix-reported Korean spin-off a natural next step, further growing the Extraction universe. A TV offering, based in the same world, meanwhile, is also in the works.
Produced by Russo Brothers again, the small-screen spectacle is set to take the world based on Ande Parks’ graphic novel Ciudad to tv audiences.
All about the Extraction TV series
Netflix greenlit an Extraction TV series, with Omar Sy set to lead, earlier this year. The eight-episode chapter, according to the official logline, follows Sy’s mercenary on a dangerous mission to rescue hostages in Libya. Caught between warring factions and ruthless killers, the story explores the emotional struggles of flawed characters, delving into trauma, betrayal, and life-or-death decisions, promising a gripping mix of action and human drama.
