Netflix keeps its anime grill sizzling, and Love Through a Prism looks like a delectable newcomer ready to serve up youth, dreams, and brushstrokes on the platter. But for the bingers, will this feast of old-school romance be enough, or will they clamor for seconds?

The streamer’s 2026 lineup hints at more than just another romantic Japanese cliché. When an anime lineup needs a masterpiece, the brushstroke that has boys hiked over flowers might be Netflix's sole instrument to a long success.

Love Through a Prism has unveiled a hearty 20-episode-long first season, per Netflix, set to drop on January 15, 2026. Yoko Kamio, the genius behind the 1990s-born manga, Boys Over Flowers, has crafted and co-written this gem.

WIT Studio has added to the party its animatic flair, while Kazuto Nakazawa, the Kill Bill: Volume 1 and B: The Beginning directing veteran, has enriched the crew. The trailer? A visual symphony of Edwardian elegance that has already got the watchers sketching their watchlists for the new year.

As per Netflix, the voice cast has featured Atsumi Tanezaki as Lili Ichijoin, the determined Japanese exchange student and aspiring painter. Koki Uchiyama lends his voice to Kit Church, an aristocratic and gifted painter whose emotional detachment starts to thaw after meeting Lili.

Akari Kito as Sakura Kobakawa and Hochu Otsuka as Professor Charles Brant add depth to Saint Thomas Art Academy’s intrigue. Netflix, in its defence, has baked a cast primed to color the screen vividly.

Love Through a Prism has finally set artists on the track to dash from Japan to London, because why settle for cherry blossoms when you have got fog and frills to welcome you?

Netflix takes Japan on a soiree for Love Through a Prism

For Netflix's nth number on the romance-run, Lili Ichijoin swaps Japan’s cherry blossoms for the misty early-1900s London, enrolling at a posh art academy. With her parents' ultimatum to excel in six months or sail home packed heavy in her suitcase, her passion comes to clash with cultural and societal quakes.

More specifically, Lili’s passion clashes with Kit Church’s privileged polish. This has set the stage for no mere romance, but a canvas of ambition clashing against expectations.

Love Through a Prism has cleverly fused Japanese poise with British pomp, turning an elite academy into a battleground for hearts and hues. As swoon-worthy as it may seem, it has even probed the powers of art that shatter barriers and thaw detachment under the nose of love.
