Netflix Lands a Big Win With Four Different Emmy Nominations in 2023 International Category

As Netflix soaks in its own glory and success following recent hits such as One Piece, there is more good news for it on the cards. A show that involves heavy production and the dedication of its entire cast, seeks to redeem itself on the world stage. One of the most coveted recognitions of it comes in the form of the Emmy Awards. After winning 184 out of the total 970 nominations it has received so far, Netflix now has more to add to the list.

As the 2023 51st International Emmy nominations were declared, many of Netflix’s shows found their place on the list.

The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (IATAS) listed out the nominations for the 51st International Emmy Awards, 2023. The list encompassed 56 nominees across 14 categories and 20 countries. Among the expansively coveted list, four of Netflix’s productionsMan vs. Bee, Delhi Crime, Vir Das: Landing, and Derry Girls have secured nominations. All the productions are under Netflix’s banner and are under varying seasons and categories.

The coming-of-age Northern Irish comedy, Derry Girls, finds itself up against Netflix counterpart Vir Das: Landing in the comedy category. Meanwhile, Shefali Shah is up for Best Actress for Delhi Crime. Finally, Man vs. Bee starring Mr. Bean actor and BAFTA winner Rowan Atkinson, is up in the Short-Form series category. All of these nominees are up against their counterparts from other studios such as Amazon Prime, and Peacock, as well as non-streaming media.

Even after the International Emmy Awards, the upcoming Primetime Emmy Awards will have even bigger things in store for the streaming giant, as its recent successes have shown.

Netflix’s royal drama, The Crown, leads its catalog for grabbing the most Emmy nominations and wins. With a staggering  21 wins and 62 nominations, it is followed up by Stranger Things’ haul of 12 Emmy wins. Along with these shows, Ozark, Squid Game, Arrested Development, Our Planet, Bridgerton, and The Ranch have also gone on to secure big wins and nominations for the streaming giants.

Among these, its recent hit, One Piece may have a shot at the Primetime glory. The series has had an astounding run as it brushed past Stranger Things and Wednesday. Moreover, the quality and production of the show were well-acclaimed. The live-action adaptation may stand a chance for sound design, VFX, and action choreography. Regardless, the actual haul that Netflix manages to pull off this year shall remain to be seen.
