The Voyeurs stars Sydney Sweeney and Justice Smith as a young couple, Pippa and Thomas, who move into their first dream apartment together in Montreal. But the new experience turns sour as they notice that their windows look directly into the apartment opposite, which sets in motion a chain of events that leads to disaster. But sadly, this thriller is not available to watch on Netflix. The movie, directed by Michael Mohun, is an Amazon Prime original and can be accessed only there with a subscription.
The film received mixed reviews from critics and has an average rating of 45% on Rotten Tomatoes. It was compared to a few earlier voyeuristic thrillers like Rear Window and Body Double, in front of which it did not do that well, but was appreciated for its initial mystery, subsequent twists, and the chemistry between the lead actors. However, the fans sometimes confuse it with another project with the same name on Netflix.
Streaming giant Netflix also happens to have their version of Voyeurs, but it is miles away from the thriller starring Sweeney.
What is the Netflix's version of Voyeurs?
Available on Netflix, Voyeurs is a 2017 documentary by legendary journalist Gay Talese, who unmasks a motel owner, Gerald Foos. This film covers the illegal activities of Foos, who allegedly secretly watched his guests with the aid of specially designed ceiling vents, peering from an observation platform he built in the motel's attic, spying on them for decades before getting exposed. The critical reviews for this one are mostly positive, and it has a score of 79% on Rotten Tomatoes with an average rating of 6.5/10.
