Is Netflix's end of year cleaning costing One Piece?
Netflix may be clearing its vault for the last time in 2025 by removing several acclaimed movies and shows to make space for new 2026 titles, but the streamer is not dropping its One Piece live-action series. The eight-episode adaptation following Monkey D. Luffy and his spirited pirate crew as they embark on a high-stakes quest across treacherous seas in search of the legendary One Piece treasure will remain available on the streamer as of now.
A second season of the show, comprising eight episodes, in fact, is on its way to Netflix. The newest instalment will drop on the platform early next year. According to the synopsis of the upcoming chapter for Luffy and his team, they have fiercer adversaries and a more perilous sea quest in store for them.
A third season, meanwhile, is also in motion and is expected to arrive on Netflix sometime in 2027. Production began in November 2025, according to What’s on Netflix, and is expected to continue through June 2026.
With a new installment approaching and another actively under production, Netflix clearly has no plans to remove the existing season from its catalogue anytime soon. It did, however, bid farewell to a few One Piece movies this year.
Netflix let go of a collection of One Piece films this September, some of which were significantly important for those dipping their toes into the famous manga-to-screen universe for the first time.
One Piece movies that are no longer available on Netflix
The four titles pulled from the platform on September 1 were One Piece: Heart of Gold, One Piece Film: Gold, One Piece Episode of East Blue – Luffy and His Four Crewmates’ Great Adventure, and One Piece Episode of Skypiea.
Released between 2016 and 2018, some of these were compilation-style films summarising major story arcs, making their removal disappointing for viewers who relied on them as shortcuts while navigating the vast One Piece universe.

The unavailability of these films does not change the bigger picture, though, which is that the One Piece live-action series remains firmly anchored at Netflix, with new seasons charting their course. As the streamer rotates alternative titles and prepares for fresh arrivals this coming year, Luffy’s journey on the platform remains safe and secure. With the platform’s support, along with audience acclaim and anticipation, the series is poised to continue to sail strongly in the future.
