From Sweden, the Kingdom will have King Carl XVI Gustaf along with his eldest daughter and the rightful heir to the throne, Crown Princess Victoria. What is the first for King Charles on the guest list?

The confirmed attendance of King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden has raised quite a few eyebrows. Bear in mind that the Swedish royal family is closely related to the British Imperial legacy. As is the matter with many European royals, King Carl and the late Queen Elizabeth II have their roots deeper in their common ancestors. They both share the same great-great-grandmother, Queen Victoria.

In fact, the King is a descendant of Queen Victoria in two ways since both parents were effectively second cousins. Both his parents were the great-grandchildren of Queen Victoria. Thus, as the rule follows, foreign monarchs, however, are not supposed to be attending any British Crown ceremony. From ages untold, these royal households would traditionally send their heirloom. Or other significant members, for that matter, but the reigning King or the Queen. This is the first time in UK’s royal history that a monarch will be attending the coronation.
