‘Along for the Ride’ Star on the Netflix Movie Adaptation: “It is a pretty heavy responsibility when you know there’s a built-in audience”
Dermot Mulroney is a familiar face for everyone who has grown up watching classic Julia Roberts rom-coms in the 90s. After a career spanning 4 decades, the actor now returns in the role of a father in the next Netflix movie, Along for the Ride. In an interview, the actor revealed the pressure of working on a project that already had a huge fanbase.

The movie is adapted from Sarah Dessen’s novel of the same name. The My Best Friend’s Wedding star revealed that Mulroney considered his role a huge responsibility, even if he wasn’t familiar with the audience.

However, it was easy for him to sink into his role of Robert for the Netflix movie, Along for the Ride because he has two teenage daughters and a 23-year-old son. He also praised his reel daughter, Emma Pasarow for doing a commendable job.
Mulroney plays an estranged father to an academically bright teen, Auden. Auden visits her dad for the summer to take a break before her college. She hopes to reconnect with her dad and make some memories along the way. But her dad has gotten married again and has a new baby to take care of. So, she has to look elsewhere for fun and she meets the enigmatic Eli, who teaches her that there’s more to life than just academics and goals.

Mulroney may make an appearance in Marvel’s Secret Invasion
Even though details about the show are still under wraps but rumor is Dermot may appear in a Marvel miniseries, Secret Invasion. When he was asked about this, instead of giving a straightforward answer, his reply was pretty vague.
“Some of the things that you read on the internet are true and some of them aren’t.” He also dodges the question by calling it a “marvelous question“.

The coming-of-age movie is going to hit the streamer on May 6. The release date was postponed to avoid a clash with Heartstopper.
