In a recent Deadline interview, Sadie Sink, star of both Stranger Things and the acclaimed Broadway play John Proctor Is The Villain, was pressed for details about the upcoming final season of the hit Netflix series. When asked if the play Stranger Things: The First Shadow contains any clues or connections to the fifth season, Sink responded, “It might. There are definitely some easter eggs I spotted for sure”. This cryptic confirmation has sparked a new wave of fan theories and excitement.
The Broadway play Stranger Things: The First Shadow, which serves as a prequel to the series, explores the origins of Henry Creel, later known as Vecna, and features key characters from the show as teenagers in the 1950s. Writer Kate Trefry has described the play as “part of the same story” as Season Five, emphasizing that both are deeply intertwined and that the play had to fit seamlessly into the established canon.
To be in the position that Sink can give out clues, a certain amount of expertise is called for. Expertise so far they had to be bulletproof.
How Sadie keeps from the Sink, tactics of a seasoned actress
In her Broadway play, John Proctor Is the Villain, Sink employs her character Shelby as a shield, preventing audience members who see her as Max Mayfield from affecting her performance. Sink uses the character to become a vessel, separating her own vulnerability from the role. She also enjoys the physical demands of stage work, which differ significantly from TV and film. Labelling this as a coping mechanism for the actress, a tool to protect herself.
