Netflix has a loaded animated lineup for the second half of 2025. One show that caught the attention of the audience was the French production, 7 Bears. Coming from the award-winning animation studio Folivari, 7 Bears is directed by Guillaume Rio, who has previously directed episodes of Le Podcats and Rabbids Invasion. 

It is a modern-day twist on a very popular French fairytale. Ahead of the show’s release next month, we detailed the cast, crew, plot details, and more.

The full cast and crew of the 7 Bears have yet to be released. But what we do know is that Paris-based American actress Tiffany Hofstetter will voice the seven bears. She has previously worked in various roles in Soul Surfer (2011), The Substance (2025), The Beast (2023), and other productions. She has provided voice for both the French and English versions.

“It was a great honor. I fell in love with this series,” the voice actress was quoted by What’s On Netflix as saying. She further added that even though they are identical bears, each of them has a different personality, which depends on the episode and the situations they find themselves in.

The last line holds the key to the plot as well. The seven bears, although they might look and act the same, have different personalities, and that makes the story even more mysterious. The show is primarily based on the book, “Les Contes Palpitants des 7 Ours Nains” (The Thrilling Tales of the 7 Dwarf Bears) by Émile Bravo. The original stories were published between 2004 and 2012 and followed the seven bears in their adventurous (and often mischievous) journeys where they meet different characters from fairy tales. Netflix created a modern-day twist on that.

Guillaume Rio, the director, told What’s on Netflix that they had to tone down the ‘little darkness’ in those stories to suit Netflix’s young audience. Hence a touch of slapstick comedy that was missing in the original books. A goofy character like Ewoks, who gets a more central role in the series. Many new elements were added to the existing narrative as well. Among the many instances of goofy humor, there is a scene where a bear celebrates a feat by scratching their butt on a tree branch—a very uniquely Bearly thing to do. Or, the time they mistake Snow White for Cinderella. Again, a very uniquely, Bearly mistake to commit.

It took them four years to create the 7 Bears. As revealed during the Annecy Film Festival, Netflix has set the release date for July 10, 2025. The show will be available in both French and English dub.
