Adam Sandler’s powerhouse partnership with Netflix continues to flourish as the sweatshirt-and-shorts-favoring actor keeps delivering a stream of crowd-pleasers for the streaming giant. With his heart, humor, and star power supported by Netflix, Sandler has turned this collaboration into one of Hollywood’s most reliable entertainment slates. Adam Sandler’s alliance with Netflix began in 2014, and the actor has largely remained absent from theaters since then, with the streamer locking him in with a series of four-film contracts — the last of which came in 2020. According to The Telegraph, the latest deal was worth a whopping $250 million, and as a result, cinemas that would enthusiastically show his next film, the legacy sequel to 1996’s Happy Gilmore, will have to survive without it when it drops this Friday. Happy Gilmore 2, notably, as mentioned earlier, sees Travis Kelce take command of the spotlight, alongside the film’s ensemble cast.
It appears that Travis Kelce could have a very secure career in showbiz if he decides to pursue it following his retirement from the NFL. The footballer-turned-movie-star, for the record, only makes a brief cameo in Happy Gilmore 2 as a golfer’s clubhouse waiter. However, he completely owns the screen with his presence, according to Julie Bowen, the Happy Gilmore icon. Despite his applauded acting acumen, Kelce does not carry the baggage of being a three-time Super Bowl champion, per Adam Sandler, who recently praised him as “ridiculously nice and warm.” Sandler again praised Kelce during the New York premiere of their film.

Travis Kelce was surprisingly missing from the red carpet of the Happy Gilmore 2 New York launch. Adam Sandler, however, was on the red carpet beforehand, and he paid a huge compliment not only to Kelce but also to Bad Bunny, who also makes a cameo appearance in the film. “They were both so confident and so funny,” Sandler told The Hollywood Reporter. Not only this, Sandler went as far as saying he would want to work with both the singer and the athlete in the future as well, because he got very close to them during their joint schedule.

Travis Kelce, who has starred in the FX series Grotesquerie as well as hosted TV shows, was reportedly absent from Happy Gilmore 2’s New York premiere due to his busy football schedule ahead of the NFL’s return in September, as well as because he is busy being there for Taylor Swift amid her father’s heart surgery. Adam Sandler's Netflix deal, meanwhile, has seen the actor churn out endeavors like Leo, You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah, The Out-Laws, Murder Mystery, and more for the platform in recent years. And Happy Gilmore 2 is supposed to be only one of the additions to his growing Netflix catalogue, given the aforementioned deal that the actor has in place with it.
