Kathryn Bigelow, an Oscar-winning director and the force behind the newest sensational film, A House of Dynamite, recently shared that she was influenced by her early experiences with the threat of nuclear showdowns for the film. In a CBS Sunday Morning interview, she recalled how she grew up in an era when children were taught to hide under desks in case of an atomic bomb warning, saying, “I suppose I was sort of imprinted early on with the prospect of nuclear war.” These personal memories sparked her fascination with nuclear tension, shaping the high-stakes and intense narrative of her new movie.

A House of Dynamite premiered at the Venice International Film Festival on September 2,  with a US theatrical release on October 10. It is set to become a part of Netflix's treasure trove of thrillers starting October 24. The political thriller stars Idris Elba as the US President, Rebecca Ferguson as Captain Olivia Walker, and features Gabriel Basso, Jared Harris, and Tracy Letts in supporting roles. The plot, as hinted in Kathryn Bigelow's CBS Sunday Morning interview clip, follows a missile launched toward the United States, with only eighteen minutes to determine its origin and respond. Bigelow brings unmatched authenticity to this drama, and it is evident that this is not her first experience with themes of war.
