Ye Makes a Surprise Entry at Rolling Loud 2024 but Only in a Revisited Spirit of ‘Back to Me'
Ye, once Kanye West, is busy navigating the stale anticipation of his unfinished ‘Vultures’ series with a re-energized hype for his forthcoming album, ‘Bully.’ Although this year has been no different in terms of his rollout strategies, the months meddling the start and ending stretch of 2024 saw a fresh surge of listening parties that took fans back to the days of his on-stage shows. However, when the largest international hip-hop festival, Rolling Loud, kicked off this weekend without the footprints of Mr. West, a special summon was made.
While Ye’s physical presence may have been a myth, his spiritual one was never one with a surprise revisit of ‘Back to Me.’

On the ultimate night of Rolling Loud’s weekend extravaganza, Ye finally made his appearance, but only in a symphonic wave. GoodAssSub on X recently shared a snippet of the Atlanta rapper’s ‘Back to Me’ track during an intermission between Denzel Curry and Ken The Rapper’s sets. The track played was reportedly one of the earlier editions that has an anonymous feature, speculated to be DeRay Davis’.
The person who recorded the clip stated the version is not Quavo’s, leading to the assumption of Davis taking center stage since his verse is known to fans, having been behind the console for the track previously in a nightclub. ‘Back to Me’ is a ‘Vultures 1’ track, composed by Mr. West and Ty Dolla $ign, featuring rapper Freddie Gibbs. Produced by ¥$, 88-Keys, AyoAA and Wax Motif, the track contains a sample of ‘Rock Box’ by Run-DMC.
Though ‘Vultures’ has not yet spread its wings to conclude its run, it has still unleashed a feeding frenzy of admiration from the industry’s heavy hitters.
Ye’s Vultures receives flying colors from Bump J
Ye’s ‘Vultures’ may be mid-flight, and the concerns are never-ending on ‘Bully’ getting a bit too close to its title. However, there is no pausing the celebrations because even after its delays, and countless challenges, it is the top pick for ‘Vultures 1’ collaborator Bump J. The rapper recently took to Instagram to celebrate the album’s gold certification with a special shout-out for Ye. “Foks really dropped this INDEPENDENTLY blackballed and shadowbanned,” Bump J captioned the post.

This came hot on the heels of the Ye’s Spotify feat this year, as the sixth most streamed artist, according to their Wrapped assessment. While fans are well aware of the kinds of difficulties, he faced, ranging from DSP troubles to its imitation with ‘Vultures 2,’ DJ Akademiks could not help but praise the rapper for rising above the ashes. Now, with the ‘Vultures 1’ track overtaking the spirits of Rolling Loud, it is safe to say, ‘Vultures’ continues to ride the wind.
