When Taylor Swift pens a song, the whole world gets mesmerized, but there is often someone who trembles. Any industry demon who has wronged the 'Karma' singer has faced her lyrical takedown first-hand. Her long-standing feud with her former record executive, Scooter Braun, is a key example of why one should tread the pop powerhouse's wrong side more carefully. There are instances where Swifties believe she has presumably shaded Braun for controlling her master recordings, with one song in particular making headlines for getting a little too personal.

According to Braun, however, Swift’s brutally honest and sharp lyrics may not be about what everyone thought.

In a rare interview where Scooter Braun opened up about his personal life, he got defensive about Taylor Swift's song, ‘Vigilante S---’ being a jab at his split from ex-wife Yael Cohen. When Swift released the track as a part of her 2022 album, 'Midnights', fans zeroed in on the lyrics as a gracefully savage payback. However, Braun disagreed, revealing to the QUESTION EVERYTHING podcast that his relationship with Cohen post-divorce has been amicable and nothing like portrayed in Swift's track. He said, "My ex-wife is one of my best friends." He even got a "same team" tattoo after divorce as a testament to their friendship and commitment to co-parenting peacefully.

Swift sang about sharing cold, hard proof with an unnamed character, which led to her successful divorce in the song. Swift sparked speculation with a line about being thick as thieves with his ex-wife. Fans concluded that ‘Vigilante S---’ was all about Swift airing out Braun's shady business and personal life. He mentioned that he and his ex-wife had never thought it was about them, dismissing it as a great strategic move. Though according to him, fans read too deeply into fiction, this was not the only time Swifties skillfully dissected the Swift vs. Braun beef.

Since then, Braun, who is currently transitioning out as the former CEO of HYBE America and has been dropped by several stars such as Ariana Grande and Demi Lovato, became the staple villain in the pop megastar's musical narrative in the eyes of several fandoms.
