“Sell like crazy”- Tyra Banks Announces Taylor Swift as a Perfect Fit for ‘The Bodyguard’ Remake

When Taylor Swift lays a finger on something, it does not just shimmer; it glows. With a track record paved in platinum, it is no wonder that Tyra Banks is manifesting Swift’s Midas touch for The Bodyguard remake. The pop powerhouse’s reign is so potent, Swifites would not blink twice if she ran the entire soundscape of planet Earth. But Banks is not just dreaming in pop lyrics; she sees a ticket-selling tsunami and a blockbuster glow-up in the making.
While Swift could easily turn a cinematic classic into a chart-topping cultural reset, what enchanted Banks enough to cast the queen of eras into this iconic reboot?

On a recent episode of Today with Jenna & Friends, shared on Monday, April 14, Tyra Banks had Taylor Swift cruising on her mind, especially during discussions about the upcoming remake of The Bodyguard. Upon being asked who she thinks should follow Whitney Houston’s footsteps as Rachel Marron in the reboot, she said, “I think Taylor Swift, because business and commerce, art, and she would freakin’ sell like crazy.”

Banks also had another name she would love to have opposite Swift, Idris Elba. She acknowledged that Houston, who was black, and Kevin Costner, who portrayed Frank Farmer, is white in the original. However, if she were allowed a creative flip, she would love Swift and Elba to play the respective characters. The host, Jenna Bush Hager, could see Banks’ vision, noting that to have Swift and Elba play opposite each other on the big screen would be “so hot.”
Plus, should Taylor Swift and Idris Elba actually end up materializing the hypothesis, this could be the second time they shared the screen.
Have Taylor Swift and Idris Elba been on-screen together before?
Taylor Swift, by name and fame, is a sonic mastermind. However, the number of times she has popped up in cinematic theories, discussions, assumptions, and fan-castings proves she would excel just as much if she were to cross the pond once and for all. Yet, Tyra Banks’ pitching for the pop princess to star alongside Idris Elba in The Bodyguard remake could allow viewers to enjoy them on-screen a second time after Cats.

Elba played Macavity, one of the feline characters in the star-studded musical fantasy film. Interestingly, her track ‘London Boy’ from ‘Lover’ also features a spoken-word intro by the actor, which included a snippet of him discussing his Valentine’s Day date auction on Omaze. Lastly, another curious link Swift has with The Bodyguard remake is Sam Wrench, who directed Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour concert film in 2023.
