After Sweeping Numbers at the Concerts, Taylor Swift and ‘The Eras Tour’ Are Outpacing Greta Gerwig’s ‘Barbie’
Taylor Swift and Eras Tour are all that are dotting all major theaters across the US as of now. While thumping footsteps, loud cheers, dances, and heartfelt emotions defined her concerts, sweeping records away is what her movie has done. The concert movie has taken ‘Swifties’ by storm and is tearing down some of the biggest hits of the year by the horns, including 2023’s highest-grosser, Barbie.
The Greta Gerwig-directed hit has lost its footing to the march of the musical extravaganza. Moreover, the concert movie has also claimed records previously held by Marvel stalwarts.

The Eras Tour already made records right when presales started for the movie. In overwhelming reception, the movie crashed AMC’s servers and in the first 24 hours itself, amassed a whopping $26 million in North America swinging past Marvel juggernaut, Spider-Man: No Way Home‘s $16.9 million. Furthermore, as Deadline recently reported, barely a day before its release, The Eras Tour has already sold out 4,200 showtimes in the US, compared to 500 for Barbie.
Moreover, with the sheer numbers that the movie now commands, it stands comfortably poised for an opening upward of $100 million in the US alone. Not only this, but the movie is already clear for a worldwide release. As such, the 2 hours and 45 minutes movie is set to leave a lasting impression on box office history as global projections predict it to cross $1 billion worldwide.
Additionally, with a budget of $15 million and revenue that high, Taylor Swift may soon go on to be a billionaire.

The pop diva caused much of a sensation when her Eras Tour concerts averaged upwards of 54,000 fans per show. If that was not enough to put her success into perspective, the ‘Wildest Dreams’ singer gained approximately $130 million with her every appearance. With still a month of touring on the tow, Swift and her concert are well set to cross over $1 billion in revenue, with the singer alone raking in $300 million.
Currently, the concerts are all but ready to take down Elton John’s Farewell Yellow Brick Road concert’s record of being the highest-grosser ever, with $887 million. Lastly, the one with an NFL beau already has more than $700 million to her name. Thus, by the end of this year, Swifties have many reasons to cheer. From a billionaire ‘queen’ to perhaps the highest-grossing movie by the 2023 box office’s closing.
