Beneath polished smiles and royal waves, the late Queen Elizabeth II may have endured the weight of the frail unity of the two most talked-about figures of the monarchy. According to an insider's revelation, the late monarch reportedly sensed something was off in the way Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton functioned as a team. While the royal family often presented a united front before 2021, this behind-the-scenes worry suggests all may not have been as seamless as it seemed since the beginning of time.

Lady Elizabeth Anson reportedly engaged in multiple insightful conversations with royal author Sally Bedell Smith over the years. The latter has now published bits from those conversations on her Substack blog titled Royal Extra, as reported by Newsweek. Anson, per the author, shared: “Meghan and William, and Kate are not working well. That is what the Queen said, particularly about the two girls.” While it has long been known that there were tensions between the Prince and Princess of Wales and the Duchess of Sussex, the understanding that the Queen was aware of it from the very beginning adds an added layer of intrigue to the regal tale, some argue.

Additionally, per Sally Bedell Smith, Lady Elizabeth Anson commented on the compatibility between Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, saying while she felt the former was both bright and strong, the latter was neither. Well, no matter what the world — including some royals — has to say about the duo’s pairing, they appear to be living a happily ever after since leaving their royal statuses behind in the aforementioned year and making California their and their kids’ home. While Prince Harry continues the work for his several foundations, Markle is running her ambitious lifestyle brand As Ever, which has only been tasting success since its launch.

Shelves cleared in minutes: Meghan Markle’s brand is the talk of the town

Meghan Markle launched As Ever in March of this year, promising her admirers a taste of homemade jams, flower sprinkles, and more. The first batch of her organic products came out on April 2 and sold out within an hour. The Duchess restocked the commodities soon, and the response from her fans mirrored the first. Most recently, she ventured into the wine business, selling cases of fruity goodness in sets of three, six, or twelve, with each bottle priced at $30. The reception, one may ask? Well, it sold out again.

Turns out, Markle was thriving before royalty, did so during her time within the monarchy as well, and is keeping her upward trajectory intact post-palace life. Meanwhile, Prince William and Princess Kate are also doing what they were supposed to do in the best possible manner, despite a couple of major hiccups, including the Princess of Wales’ health. So, while the Queen was indeed right about her intuitions concerning the royal trio’s equation once, it almost seems she never had a reason to worry about their individual endeavors.
