Just as Gordon was venturing into new cinematic territories and dabbling in comedy, he unleashed a movie with an ensemble cast. With its star-studded lineup, expectations were sky-high, but reality had a different plan. The movie received a drubbing from both critics and audiences. When questioned by Josh Horowitz as to which of his two films, The Exorcist: Believer or Your Highness, contained more sacrilegious elements, Gordon had a ready response. During an interview on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Gordon quipped, “I think Your Highness will send me to hell quicker”.
To make matters even more candid, Gordon went on to assert that The Exorcist: Believer contained the lion’s share of sacrilegious material. It appears that the director, known for breathing new life into franchises like Halloween, ended up digging an even deeper cinematic grave with Halloween Ends which could not make it to Netflix. Similarly, Believer ventured into territory so controversial that it is regarded as sacrilegious when compared to the original and the initial entry in the proposed trilogy, clubbing with Your Highness.
No matter how big of a flop Your Highness turned out to be, Gordon has always maintained a sunny disposition about it to this day.

Gordon Green recently defended his film Your Highness during an interview on the Happy Sad Confused podcast. Despite the movie’s critical and commercial disappointment, Green humorously recalled how he once believed it would win him an Oscar. He even showed the film to his children, insisting it was a masterpiece and questioning why it received negative reviews.
While Green acknowledged that he does not endorse all of his past work, he explained that he has no regrets. Essentially, this is because he has had creative freedom without external pressures from studios or benefactors. He trusts a group of people who provide honest feedback, allowing him to make bold choices in his filmmaking journey.
