Previously talking to The Hollywood Reporter, the actor has said his character’s ultimate dream is to be accepted and appreciated. Reynolds must uncover a deeper purpose behind Marvel Jesus’s existence— and perhaps the X-Men narrative provides that path.

It is unclear which actors Reynolds may be eyeing for future MCU collaborations, but whether it is his Wolverine buddy, Hugh Jackman, or Storm hopeful Cynthia Erivo, the multiverse is full of star-powered options. In this finale movie, Deadpool could play the second fiddle as a supporting player while he gives three or four X-Men characters the chance to take the lead and contribute to the future of Marvel. He has previously also told the outlet that Deadpool joining the X-Men and the Avengers would have unintended consequences, which he could potentially explore in the upcoming installment.

If I lose, I get to also feel like I was the architect of my own demise.” For this franchise, he has been provided with much creative control, which has ultimately paid off well. But this time, he is looking for creative satisfaction as a storyteller rather than more screen time as an actor. Nonetheless, thankfully, the story of Deadpool has not ended yet in the MCU. 

It seems, Reynolds, who has previously vocal about not making a final movie has changed his thoughts. Although his adieu is definitely going to be a heartbreak, but his self-aware ending with his integrity and sarcasm intact, which also satisfy Reynolds is a much better closure than an abrupt one.
