‘Welcome to Wrexham’ Editors Applaud Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney for This Specific Reason
Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney bought the then-weak club, Wrexham AFC, in 2020. Since they acquired the control of the club, the image has entirely changed. The Welsh football club got a huge promotion in 15 years and is now playing the Football League Two. Their entire journey from being strangers to becoming family members has been documented in a series, Welcome to Wrexham. Every football fan, along with the actors’ fans, is waiting for the second season to drop.

The editors of Welcome to Wrexham, Curtis McConnell, Michael Anthony Brown, Charles Little II, ACE, and Mohamed El Manasterly had an exclusive interview with Hello! Magazine. The editors gave insights into how the Hollywood duo reacted when they first came to the club’s match. Manasterly recalled when the Deadpool actor first saw Wrexham playing live; he did not have a clue which team was it. Although it might seem strange to many people, the editors applauded the owners.
McConnell praised and added one of the things that helped the show was the club owners leaning into their ignorance and their naivete. He said this pair did not have the actual information about the sport, nor did they have knowledge about the culture. Therefore, their way of learning everything about it added more value to their leadership.
Additionally, Curtis McConnell also expressed his respectful feelings about them. He had a genuine conviction that Reynolds and McElhenney were kind-hearted individuals whose comedic timing made the documentary even more natural. The new club owners wanted this documentary to be different from others, with a specific goal in mind.
