Timothée Chalamet as James Bond? The Internet Rejects It Faster Than You Can Say 007

Timothée Chalamet has played a shy teen in Call Me by Your Name, a sand-surfing messiah in Dune, and even a drug-addicted writer in Beautiful Boy. If versatility was a spy gadget, Chalamet would already have a license to carry it. However, despite his acting range and cheekbone arsenal, the general public has made one thing clear: there is one role he should never attempt, James Bond, completely disapproving of Esquire's suggestion.
According to Esquire, Timothée Chalamet would make a perfect James Bond. Yes, the martini-sipping, Aston Martin-driving, internationally feared superspy. The Internet, naturally, had a swift and explosive reaction, it was a unanimous "No, absolutely not," followed by a few dramatic GIFs. Memes surfaced faster than Bond’s getaway car, and some users even offered to join MI6 just to stop this casting from ever happening.

Meanwhile, the Internet continues to play its favorite game: fantasy casting the next 007. Fans have long rooted for Idris Elba, dreamed of Henry Cavill’s square-jawed Bond, and more recently floated Theo James as a suave contender. Thankfully, at least one mystery has been solved, the next James Bond film finally has its director. All that is left now is to pick someone who will not require skinny jeans with their Walther PPK.
Fans have responded to the Timothée Chalamet-as-007 idea with all the warmth of a rejected martini, ice cold.
Esquire floats Timothée Chalamet as 007, fans hit eject
The Internet has always been fiercely protective of the James Bond legacy, and one cardinal rule seems to echo louder than others- Bond must be British, or at least Irish. When Esquire suggested American heartthrob Timothée Chalamet for the role, global Bond enthusiasts nearly short-circuited. Many users declared that sipping martinis and serving Her Majesty, or His Majesty now, should be left to those who grew up spelling "favourite" with a “u.”
While Timothée Chalamet’s talent is widely acknowledged, many fans feel his youthful appearance does not align with the established image of James Bond. The character has traditionally exuded a sense of seasoned experience and quiet intensity, traits often shaped by time and turmoil, something hard to find in Chalamet's boyish charm.

While Esquire may have meant well, their suggestion has turned into a global “No, thank you” moment. The Internet has been very clear: give Bond to someone who knows their MI6 from their moisturizer. Whether it is Henry Cavill’s jawline, Idris Elba’s swagger, or Theo James’ everything, fans have a list, and Timothée Chalamet is nowhere near the top of it. After all, Britain’s favorite spy deserves more than good cheekbones.
