The actor who rose to fame on the sets of 2 Fast 2 Furious, stayed along for the franchise which is coming up on its eleventh film. Though Gibson achieved great things in his professional career, the same cannot be said about his personal life because of his turbulent marriage to Norma Gibson. The actor-singer has been extremely tight-lipped about his divorce and the bitter custody battle that ended up spilling out onto social media back in 2017.

Recently, Tyrese Gibson sat down with The Breakfast Club to reveal what had unfolded on his Instagram back in 2017. The actor also talked about how his outburst had caused a rift between him and Will Smith. He went on to say, “My relationship with Will Smith is still beautiful but it’ll never be the same.” 

In the same interview, the actor went on to tell interviewers that he was still on “an apology tour” for the damage he had caused. He also explained that he did not speak about his divorce from Norma Gibson for two years, as what he said could be used against him.

This revelation comes five years after Tyrese Gibson took to social media to claim that Smith had given his $5 million to help cover legal fees. However, it was immediately shut down by the Smiths, who were more concerned about the actor’s state of mind.

What caused Tyrese’s 2017 drug-induced social media spiel

While the whole world was confused about Tyrese Gibson’s post in 2017, the actor cleared up the confusion by explaining where his outburst had come from. Following his divorce, Norma Gibson caught the actor up in a custody battle for their firstborn. Evidently, the actor did not handle that separation well.

After days of not eating and sleeping properly, the actor revealed he had gone to a doctor who put him on an anti-depression medication. However, the medication did not agree with Gibson and caused him to have an adverse reaction to it. In the same interview, the actor also said, “I don’t do anything as a gateway into drugs. I smoke hookah, that’s pretty much it,” as an explanation of what caused the breakdown.
