Once upon a time in Hollywood, Quentin Tarantino dropped a love letter to old-school Tinseltown, complete with flamethrowers, feet, and a fading star’s last hurrah. The 2019 film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood became a cinematic event, lauded for its dreamy reimagination of the 1969 film industry, and let’s be honest, for turning Brad Pitt into a shirtless, rooftop icon. Now, Tarantino is back to give Cliff Booth his own limelight, and things are about to get wildly unpredictable.

With a Netflix film titled The Adventures of Cliff Booth, expect a pulp-filled plot, secret missions, and hopefully a few returning faces, yes, even the dog.

As of now, Netflix has not officially confirmed the release date for The Adventures of Cliff Booth. However, filming was scheduled to commence on July 28, 2025, following a minor delay from the previously planned July 16 start. The six-month production will continue through January 16, 2026.

While speculation remains, most expect Netflix to announce details once filming is fully underway. Until then, Brad Pitt’s recent set appearance has only fueled anticipation further.

What will The Adventures of Cliff Booth be about?

Details regarding the official storyline of The Adventures of Cliff Booth remain under wraps, but actor Brad Pitt has confirmed that the project will function as an “episode” rather than a traditional sequel. Set in 1977, nearly a decade after Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, the film follows Cliff Booth’s evolution from stuntman to Hollywood fixer, a man with a knack for discreetly solving violent problems. This narrative promises a blend of noir tension, vintage glamour, and deeply buried secrets.

Director David Fincher now takes the reins, with Quentin Tarantino remaining as the writer. The cast is expected to embody the gritty and morally ambiguous tone of the plot with uncanny precision.

Meet the cast of The Adventures of Cliff Booth

The ensemble for The Adventures of Cliff Booth is shaping up to be as wild and eclectic as the man himself. Elizabeth Debicki, fresh off her Emmy-winning turn in The Crown, will play Roberta, a mud-wrestling bar manager with presumably more than bar tabs to settle. Scott Caan has also joined the lineup, though his role remains mysterious. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II appears set to portray a character inspired by Jim Brown, a former NFL player turned movie tough guy named Harrell.

Carla Gugino is the most recent addition, known for her work in Mike Flanagan’s Gerald’s Game and The Fall of the House of Usher. Also seen on set are Corey Fogelmanis, Karren Karagulian, and JB Tadena, bringing in a mix of indie and genre pedigree. Meanwhile, Leonardo DiCaprio, who is venturing in Israeli real estate right now, may return as Rick Dalton like a dazzling Hollywood ghost, possibly a cameo, definitely expensive, and likely unforgettable.
