Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have mustered a lot of high-profile connections ever since they moved across the pond. Along with Hollywood stars and celebrities, they have also strengthened their ties with various media personalities. Tyler Perry is an American playwright, actor, comedian, and also producer is certainly among them. Being one of the most commercially successful African American filmmakers, he is also famous for one more reason. That is, for being Princess Lilibet’s Godfather. The actor has been the Sussexes’ close associate for a long time. Recent updates around him suggest the actor has a huge deal coming his way.

According to reports by Express, he recently made headlines as he is said to be the next to take over the cable channel BET. Sources confirmed that Paramount, who is the current owner of the channel BET (short for black entertainment television) had been losing money. And hence Perry was able to secure a perfect deal that will give him control of the BET media group. The actor has been known for his roles in many hit shows like Sistas and The Diary of mad black Woman, which was written by Tyler himself and produced by BET.

Tyler has been a longtime family friend to the estranged royals. His friendship came evident as he even made a cameo in the couple’s Netflix bombshell, Harry & Megan. Therein, he praised the pair for their decision to step out of the royal family.”They just wanted to be free,” he said. In the 6th episode of the documentary, Tyler revealed how he reacted when he was asked to be the godparent to the couple’s daughter Lilibet. Earlier this year, the Sussexes turned the friendship into family ties as they bestowed him with the responsibility of Princess Lilibet’s christening.

He wrote to Markle that he hoped she would be able to hold on and go through the problems. This came in light of the numerous scandals that gripped Markle about her father and the paparazzi. He also promised her that he would be there in her time of need and he did keep his end of the promise.

Not to mention how he was also one of the few people to help the pair when they left Canada. He gave his $15 million mega-mansion in the Beverly Bridge estate of LA to the couple where they resided for quite a while. The Sussexes stayed at the abode during the coronavirus pandemic and were promised complete security. Tyler explained that he just wanted to help the couple during their times of grief and turmoil.
