“Old, but swole” - Robert Downey Jr. Teases New Marvel 'Doomsday' Updates, Fans Spot Hints for Hawkeye Return

In 2019, when Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man snapped his fingers to save the planet from Thanos’s brunt, it was the end of a spectacular era. Marvel continued with its other phases, but the absence of Stark and his iconic humor that put all trouble at bay was gravely missed by the fans worldwide. However, destiny took a satisfying turn when last year Downey was announced to be returning to the MCU as Dr Doom, which he will be essaying in next year’s Avengers: Doomsday. But as fans get a Downey update from the movie set, a possibility of Hawkeye joining the team has developed.
The official account of Discussing Films on X has just shared a picture of Robert Downey Jr. from the sets of Avengers: Doomsday sitting outside a trailer and flexing his ripped left bicep. This picture was first shared by him on his Instagram account. But other than his strong muscles, what caught the fans’ attention was his reading fellow Avenger, Jeremy Renner’s memoir, My Next Breath. From the picture, it is evident that Downey is working hard and getting in shape for his upcoming return to Marvel. But with Marvel’s agenda of secrecy, some fans are also wondering if Hawkeye might be in the movie next year.

Tony Stark’s arc in the MCU ended with his dying in Infinity War, but Hawkeye, who survived the war, appeared once in the Disney series titled after his character, Hawkeye. Since then, the character has been missing from the screen, and there have been some big changes in actor Jeremy Renner’s life, including his suffering a near-death accident. In his memoir, Renner has penned this experience, and Robert Downey Jr. reading it on the sets of the upcoming Avengers movie is being a supportive friend, but could also be an easter egg in plain sight.
This update has gathered much love of the fans over Robert Downey Jr.’s fitness but has also fanned the flames of Hawkeye curiosity.
Robert Downer Jr. wows while Jeremy Renner raises curiosity in Avengers update
After his blockbuster Comic Con announcement of Marvel's return last year, Robert Downey Jr. is pushing his gym limits, as can be seen in the picture. While his character’s real strength increases as he steps onto the battlefield in his Iron Man suit, fans also admire his physical fitness and strength in front of heavyweights like Captain America and Thor. This set also got much fans’ love who could not get over how ripped Downey looks despite turning 60 years old in April, commenting, "looking old, but swole".
The Jeremy Renner memoir stole half the attention and left fans praying for Hawkeye to join the anticipated Avengers: Doomsday next year.

Jenner Renner, who has recently been vocal about the sour introduction of his character in the first Avengers movie, continues to be an important part of the universe. Currently, Hawkeye is the only original Avenger on Earth in real time. With this latest tease by Robert Downey Jr., fandom is dying to see him back, sharing screen in Avengers: Doomsday, hopefully bringing along his understudy, Kate Bishop, to make it more interesting.
