Millie Bobby Brown and Bella Ramsey: How Fate Took From One and Graced Another With an Immortal Character

Hollywood is the land of glitter and filters. It is the ultimate dream factory, where stars are made, remade, and unmade. Although it is a place that promises more than fame, for every star that rises, a dozen others are left orbiting the land of the almost and what-ifs. Millie Bobby Brown came in hot, fueled by a Netflix package that made her the perfect Eleven out of ten. But fame, like stardust, is slippery. Cue Bella Ramsey. While Brown was still navigating her watershed moment, Ramsey walked onto a different set and walked off a legend.

It is not like Brown’s starship did not sail. But somewhere between fate and casting calls, Ramsey snatched the crown of immortality.

Millie Bobby Brown’s claim to fame with Netflix’s Stranger Things might fuel the assumption that she has it all. However, before becoming Eleven, she confronted her fair share of rejections and breakdowns when she was not even 11. In a conversation with Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show in 2020, she took a trip down memory lane when she was frantically auditioning, only to hear the nos. But what stung her the most was the rejection for a Game of Thrones role, played by Bella Ramsey, Lyanna Mormont.

“I guess I really wanted that role,” the Netflix star mused, speaking of her Hollywood heartbreak. Though getting to play the Lady of Bear Island in Game of Thrones would have been iconic and a dream come true, Brown told Preview in 2019, “Yeah, that was the role I went for. I got Eleven instead! I’m not bitter.” Well, of course, she is not, because had she not been Dr. Martin Brenner’s favorite lab rat, Stranger Things might have just ended up being just another dream.
