Jason Bateman had quite the childhood indeed. He was born in Rye, New York, but quickly became familiar with life on the move. His father, Kent Bateman, was a film and television director and producer who founded a Hollywood repertory stage company that introduced the whole family to the entertainment world. His mother, Victoria Bateman, originally from Shropshire, England, worked as a PanAm flight attendant often away for two weeks each month, leaving Bateman and his sibling, Justine Bateman, to figure out their own routines. 

Bateman was already acting at the age of 10 a passion that defines his career to date, he also humorously stated, "I was never an avid reader" recalling back to his childhood times about how he never developed a love for reading as it was a form of punishment given by his parents which led to him associating reading with punishment during his childhood.

Growing up in the heart of Hollywood, Jason and Justine Bateman were no strangers to the limelight. At just 16, Justine Bateman secured the role of Mallory Keaton on Family Ties. Jason Bateman, too, at 11 years old, started acting in Little House on the Prairie. However, fame did not make life any easier for the siblings as they grew up under the public umbrella. Justine once told PEOPLE about how the intense fame at such a young age was mentally and emotionally draining, making it hard to keep things normal. Jason echoed similar sentiments after his long break in the 1990s.

Today, both siblings continue making significant contributions in the entertainment world, both siblings embracing parenthood while balancing their successful careers with Jason Bateman's family of four with wife Amanda Anka and two daughters, Francesca and Maple, and Justine Bateman being a mother to daughter Gianetta and son Duke.
