‘Karate Kid’ Remake: The 2010 Flick Featuring Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan Might Have a Thing to Celebrate With Sony’s Upcoming Project
When growing up, every kid used to dream about having skills like Jackie Chan. However, many of us did not realize as kids that it takes years to master what Chan has achieved. Nevertheless, Jaden Smith once got a chance to learn from Chan in the film titled The Karate Kid in 2010. Now, they might have a chance to celebrate the legacy with the announcement of Sony’s upcoming project.
The Karate Kid series has been occupying a special place in fans’ hearts for a long time. The film series became so famous that we got a spin-off show named Cobra Kai as well. However, Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith starrer 2010 film is getting a reboot by Sony. As reported by DiscussingFilm, Jackie Chan is in talks to reprise his role as Mr. Han in the upcoming project.

Jonathan Entwistle will lead the project as well. Although Sony has not officially announced confirmation about Chan’s return, nor did it talk about Mr. Han’s student as well. The 2010 film was a reimagining of the original 1984 film. This 2010 movie sees the story of a 12-year-old boy, Dre Parker, who moves to Beijing with his mother. His fellow students bully him who were Kung Fu students. Mr. Han, who is a maintenance man, trains Dre and teaches him martial arts. The two connect and make a significant bond with each other.
The title made $359 million worldwide for Sony. Now, with the reboot in line, will anyone from the previous Karate Kid films or Cobra Kai be a part of it?

Soon after Netflix announced the 5th season of Cobra Kai, Sony made an announcement of the reboot of the film. While many fans got confused about the film being directly connected to the series, Jon Hurwitz, the co-showrunner, made it clear that it was not. Moreover, Ralph Macchio also opened up about it.
Macchio said he might not have anything to do with it as well. Therefore, his statements along with Hurwitz’s; it is pretty clear the reboot is a separate project. Apart from its probable release date of June 7, 2024, not much is revealed about the reboot.
