But when Tinseltown’s fan-favorite ‘It’ couple, Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet, skipped the Met Steps for their debut as a couple, they brought both on their absentee coattails. While they must have had their reasons, Jenner and Chalamet only took a day to make up for the missed opportunity.

Just after Jenner and Chalamet’s Met carpet skip as a pair, showbiz played an Uno reverse, and the duo finally made their red carpet debut 4,280 miles away from the Big Apple.

After leaving fans frustrated with their Met Gala no-show, Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet pulled a red carpet rabbit from their hat for their debut as a couple. Though Jenner attended the Met Gala, she did so without Chalamet. However, the pair flew out to Rome, Italy, on May 7, to attend the 70th David di Donatello ceremony at Cinecitta Studios, where the Dune actor was honored with an award for Cinematic Excellence. 

Jenner walked the carpet in a stunning body-hugging Schiaparelli gown, textured and sleeveless with a crisscross open back. She topped off the look with gold dangling earrings, a gold-embellished black clutch, while her hair was up in a ballerina bun. Chalamet, on the other hand, color-coordinated with Jenner in a velvet double-breasted Tom Ford suit with a white rose pinned to the label. He wore a black button-up underneath with shiny black shoes.

While Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet’s red carpet debut in the land of Amore was worth all the wait, why exactly did the Call Me By Your Name actor skip the Met Gala 2025?

The Met Gala 2025 was not without its highlights. But beyond the sartorial curiosity, fans really hoped they would witness some power couples making their red carpet debuts, Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet being one of them. Although The Kardashians star went on her own, both skipped the after-parties for different reasons. Jenner reportedly chose to spend the rest of the evening away from the shutterbugs, but she shared a painful sneak peek of her state post-Met Gala.

Jenner revealed on her Instagram story, “Max [Ferragamo creative director Maximilian Davis] told me to tape my feet into the shoe. And now my feet are stuck in the shoes.” While she might have spent the night getting her feet out, Chalamet looked busy, watching the New York Knicks game with his friends on Monday. He even shared a since-deleted post on his Instagram. Their Met no-show was a bit of a heartbreak, but now there is no reason to fret.
