The city of angels has been playing host to a devilish inferno, leaving Los Angeles smoldering in its own heartbreak. Amid the ash and anguish, the cries for help carried far enough to reach the gilded ears of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, who dutifully descended to lend a hand, and if Jason Bateman's sister, Justine Bateman is to be believed, then also a camera crew.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, with their Archewell Foundation in tow, joined forces with World Central Kitchen volunteers to aid the victims, an act that seems positively saintly. But Bateman’s skepticism casts a shadow over the Sussex glow.

As news of the wildfire and the utter destruction that it is causing spread around town, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, despite the surrounding flames, found themselves in a comparatively safer area. The pseudo-royals dutifully issued a statement via their Archewell website, urging humanity to rally together in the face of disaster. But just as they were poised to win over fans with their heroic descent into the fray, lending not just words but well-documented deeds, Justine Bateman swooped in with a verbal bucket of cold water, dismissing the effort as nothing more than a meticulously choreographed "photo-op."

The couple stepped out to what was described as touring the damages, a phrase privy to leaders when they step out to inspect the aftermath of a calamity. Despite the obvious intention, the act was seen by Bateman as an attempt to simply gain attention. This, along with Eric Trump's jab at the couple, says a thing or more about how their home, while not threatened by literal flames yet, has been subjected to quite a few fires.

The LA wildfires have evidently caused irreparable damage to anything that came its way. The Sussexes, especially Meghan Markle, despite fortunately straying away from its path, have had to bear the consequences in their own way. However, despite the possibility of an evacuation, the couple reportedly decided to offer shelter to their loved ones by opening the gates to their Montecito mansion.

It is unclear if any of their loved ones, which also include Hollywood elites, actually took the offer, but the couple is trying its best to be hands on amidst the fire. However, with victims yet to have spoken about the impact of their help, beating down the 'photo-op' allegation will prove to be quite the challenge for Markle and Prince Harry.
