Speaking to ScreenRant recently, James Gunn divulged a great deal of information on where the DCU is headed following the David Corenswet-starrer Superman. As the interviewer outlet asked the filmmaker if he had greater plans for Krypto, given the CGI dog seemed to be a “connective tissue” in the latest film, much like Rocket was in Guardians of the Galaxy, Gunn replied in disagreement, saying the future of the DCU lies in the story of an entity that no one “would ever expect.”

As ScreenRant probed further, “Is it someone we have seen?,” Gunn replied, “Yes,” directing viewers to watch the next season of Peacemaker. The fans will see in the sequel "where a lot of these things are going,” said Gunn. Well, that naturally raises the question: when and where can one watch Peacemaker? The answer is more straightforward than fans might expect.

Peacemaker season 2 could hold the DCU’s biggest secret yet

Peacemaker Season 2 is scheduled to release on August 21 on HBO Max, with it already being public knowledge that the next installment takes place in the aftermath of Superman's ending. While the cast of the offering has been confirmed, the mystery continues around which character of the show James Gunn was referring to in his interview. It could potentially be someone who was in the film that Gunn has praised and labelled a true immigrant story.

Superman characters like Guy Gardner, Hawkgirl, and Maxwell Lord are reported to show up in Peacemaker 2, and any of them could fit the picture painted by James Gunn. Conjectures online, meanwhile, also suggest that Frank Grillo’s Rick Flag Sr. was the character Gunn was referring to. Not only did the character take screen space in Superman, but Flag also showed up in Creature Commandos Season 1, making him the perfect one to fit Gunn’s foreshadowing. Well, amid speculations running wild on the matter, only time will tell who the ambitious character teased by Gunn is.
