The gilded buzz of the Golden Globes seems to have made way for a more literal blaze in the form of the wildfires that have taken over burning, displacing hundreds and thousands of individuals and destroying several homes, including the $6.5 million mansion of Leighton Meester and Adam Brody. While one may think that this could not get worse, Matt Ramos has reflected on how the TikTok ban will actually do it.

A Hollywood stat himself, Ramos, reasoned that what is a beloved digital distraction to many also serves as the bread and butter of others. With several individuals having successfully quit their 9-5 jobs and starting businesses on the platforms, the ban of the app would mean eradication of their livelihood.

Since the wake of influencer culture, several have been inspired to create and make a living out of the content they post on TikTok. Moreover, as Matt Ramos mentioned, it also happens to be the rearing hub for small business owners, and a ban on the same would very much mean unemployment on top of the displacement that the Palisades Fire are already providing.
