‘Euphoria’ Star Jacob Elordi Passed on Succeeding Henry Cavill as Superman for This Reason
In the world of entertainment, there are only a few actors who are so perfect in their roles that it is hard to imagine anyone else filling in their shoes. Standing as a tent-pole face, Henry Cavill has left his impact on not one, but many genres and franchises over time. However, debate ranged on James Gunn’s choice of his successor for Superman after he showed him the door. Turns out, among the many faces and long before David Corenswet’s name was etched in stone, Euphoria star Jacob Elordi was one of the choices.
Boasting a commanding screen presence, the actor has left fans in awe of his acting prowess. However, he held back when approached for Superman.

The 26-year-old played Nate Jacobs in Euphoria, a character whose antics fans cannot stand but an actor whom they cannot help but love. An on-screen quarterback, he riled up the screens with his performance of a manipulative alpha male. Considering his range of acting, the James Gunn reboot movie had come knocking at his doors. Interestingly, in talks with GQ Magazine, the actor revealed that he declined to read it because “That’s too dark for me.”
The comments come in sharp contrast to what his character’s trajectory on Euphoria has been so far. In two seasons, including a love triangle involving Syndey Sweeney’s character, the actor made his presence felt thanks to a subtle variety of expressions. Regardless, the actor mentioned that his rejection of the Superman offer “was immediately, ‘No, thank you.’ That’s too much.” Contradictory to his remarks and in a sharp departure from Cavill’s outing, Gunn’s movie is to be a lighter take on the character.
To each their own, Elordi’s rejection opened up the door for David Corenswet to star in what could be a proper MCU rival.
Superman: Legacy is still firm with David Corenswet and its 2025 release date
James Gunn sent fans into an anxious spiral with his announcement of the studio parting ways with Henry Cavill. The Suicide Squad director justified his vision for a “younger actor” as one taken keeping in mind the long-term output. The visionary storyteller reportedly has plans for ten long years of glorious movies to come with his Superman: Legacy starting the home run.

In preparation for the same, David Corenswet has already started working on a buffed-up stature. Meanwhile, Gunn recently relayed that the movie is still on track for its July 11, 2025 release date. Along with Corenswet as the lead, Rachel Brosnahan will play Lois in a hopefully better chapter for DC Studios.
