Tom Holland’s absence did not stop him from being the elephant in the room, but this dynamic duo hijacked the spotlight, serving up a delicious slice of real-life multiverse drama, albeit without the superhero masks and Marvel machinations.

Outside The Beverly Hilton Hotel, the arena swarmed with the star-studded guest list of Golden Globe Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday. As paparazzi chased one after the other for the scoop of the day, an unfamiliar Marvel moment stole the show. Although Mysterio only cozies up to Spider-Man for catching him off-guard in Spider-Man: Far from Home, Andrew Garfield and Jake Gyllenhaal caught fans in jaw-drops as they hugged it out on the red carpet.

In a clip shared by Deadline recently, Garfield walks up to Gyllenhaal, extending his hands for a warm handshake as they engage in a conversation. While Garfield greets the others accompanying Gyllenhaal, Tom Holland is clearly missing. However, Garfield’s stepping in for Holland as Spider-Man on the red carpet opposite Mysterio has fans in a chokehold for this off-the-books MCU team up.

The comic book universe is all about nostalgia for fans. Thus, whenever a report related to the Marvel Studios appears on the cards, fans tend to lose their calm. While Jake Gyllenhaal’s red-carpet moment with Tom Holland would have stood out for the MCU geeks, the latter’s substitution with Andrew Garfield was a home run, regardless. History repeated itself, but with a surprise plot twist, and instead of Far from Home, it was far from expectations.

Many fans were swooning and gushing, hoping they would collaborate in the future.

The chemistry they conjured up online was undeniable, but if they team up, a box-office blockbuster would be the inevitable alchemy.
