Fans Yell No in Unison as Cynthia Erivo Announces Her Desire To Play Storm in MCU
With the doors of both DC and Marvel Cinematic Universe being open wide owing to the revamp that both superhero studios are currently going through, the opportunities are endless. This is especially true for fans who find unprecedented joy in putting a Hollywood face on their favorite comic character. However, as Cynthia Erivo revealed the Marvel character that she would like to play, the consensus was quite different.
Basking in the glory of multiple nominations at the Golden Globes, Cynthia Erivo set her intentions for 2025 as she revealed that she would like to take up the role of Storm in MCU at the NBR Awards red carpet. The innocent confession proved that some dreams are simply not universal when it comes to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as rejection poured in from every nook and cranny.

Having done the most talked-about musical in recent history, Erivo has gotten used to criticism. Alongside her co-star Ariana Grande, she has weathered barbs ranging from the banal quibbles over waistlines to the absurd whispers about their changed voices in Wicked. Yet, this latest round of scrutiny was refreshingly impersonal, aimed not at her figure or her comportment but at the audacity of her aspirations, which is again ironic, coming from fans.
For the MCU fanbase that truly does not shy from aiming high, sometimes even demanding certain actors to play duo-studio superheroes if their vision fits it, Cynthia Erivo as Storm in MCU was simply not something they could sketch out on Canva, ensuing a mass rejection on X.

While some have their own biases curtsy of Halle Berry, others simply could not see her wielding thunder as Storm.
