A new year in Hollywood is akin to a fresh chapter, but unlike every other curtain-raiser, this January took a disastrous toll on the constellation of stars. With the City of Angels reduced to ashes, every A-lister has put on their neighborhood savior cape and rolled up their sleeves to amplify relief efforts. While a silver lining may emerge from the smoke-filled skies with Tinseltown Avengers working overtime to save the dying entertainment capital, several high-profile marquee events defining the start of 2025 have been postponed, canceled, or shown the red flag until further notice.

With ceremonies still getting crossed off, here is an overview of the latest round of cancelation and postponement.

January is traditionally the month when the stars pack up their holiday luggage for the awards baggage they had been waiting for the year. Although it is also famous as the dump month, this year has been an exception, with countless A-lister gatherings in the pipeline, including extravagant pop-ups, premieres, concerts, and highly anticipated announcements. However, with each passing day, a number of events are encountering forks stuck in the road, including Beyoncé's mystery reveal, scheduled on January 14.

Hours after a whopping $2.5 million donation, Queen Bey wrote about the postponement on Instagram without a specific due date. Not just her, The Weeknd pushed back the release of ‘Hurry Up Tomorrow’ album to January 31, previously scheduled for January 24. He also canceled the Rose Bowl Show entirely. In the award season spectrum, Oscar nominations have been delayed for a January 23 declaration instead of January 17. Moreover, the Critics Choice Awards will proceed on January 26 from the initial January 12 slot.

More events delayed or called off in Hollywood because of the LA fires

Selena Gomez’s Rare pop-up, originally scheduled from January 10 to 12 in LA, was postponed among the highlights of January. However, on January 9, the pop star took to her Instagram stories to push back her Rare: The Pop-Up in partnership with Complex, out of respect for the devastating condition of Hollywood and her LA-based team. While she thanked fans for understanding and assured them the rescheduled dates would be out soon, they have yet to be announced.

Additionally, the Resonator Awards have been postponed since January 28. Universal Music Group declared on Monday that it would call off all Grammy-related events, including the artistic showcase and the post-Grammy party. However, these events are just the tip of the iceberg, with something or the other going to a halt with each passing day.
