Netflix has had a track record of disappointing live-action adaptations of anime, like Dragon Ball Evolution and Attack on Titan. However, there is hope that they won’t let down the devoted fans with the live-action adaptation of One Piece. One key reason for this optimism is that while it will stay true to Monkey D. Luffy’s story, it aims to be more than just a carbon copy of the original series.

The live-action adaptation has a specific goal of covering the East Blue Arc, which is the very first arc in the manga series. It will showcase Luffy’s journey across the Great Arc, along with his crewmates, as they take on and defeat the villains they encounter. This way it will also stay true to the original series and be a treat for the fans as well as new watchers.
